Digital Downloads By Uplinkly has three different delivery modes to suit different business models. Each one works a little differently.
On Payment
This option is the default. After a customer places and pays for an order:
- The digital files are made available immediately.
- The status of the order is unfulfilled until you manually open and fulfill the order.
Notes:
- Payment must be captured to be counted as ‘paid’.
- This isn’t suitable for Cash On Delivery services, unless the order is manually marked as paid, or the order line is marked as fulfilled.
- It’s most useful for delivering physical and digital items together as one product, so the digital content is delivered immediately, and the physical item can be marked as fulfilled manually when you are ready.
On Fulfillment
After a customer places and pays for an order:
- The status of the order is unfulfilled until you manually open and fulfill the order – or is fulfilled by another App or service.
- When you’ve manually fulfilled, the digital files are available.
Notes:
- This is especially useful if you want to deliver digital content combined with a physical item as one product, but want the digital content available when the physical product ships.
On Payment and Mark as Fulfilled
After a customer places and pays for an order:
- The digital files are made available immediately.
- The status of the order line is automatically marked as fulfilled.
Notes:
- This is the best option for purely digital orders that are not mixed with physical products at all.
Changing delivery modes
We don’t recommend changing delivery modes after you start selling a product.
Of course you can, but with these caveats:
- Changing to On Payment from the other two modes is always safe to do
- Changing to either On Fulfillment or On Payment and Mark as Fulfilled may require that historic orders are manually fulfilled before they will be available for customers.
